WHAT WE DO.

EDUCATION, RESEARCH, AND OUTREACH

While there are many organizations working on healthcare equity, this will be the first that specifically serves religious institutions. African Americans and Latinx are the most religious groups in America, when measuring for frequency of church attendance, prayer, and bible reading. In self-reported surveys, they value religion in their lives more than Americans of other races. African Americans and Latinx are also disproportionately affected by the negative effects of inequality. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the vulnerability of such communities as they are more likely to die from the virus. The Center for Health Equity will equip the institutions that African Americans and Latinx value most so that they can advocate for themselves in a more effective way.
